10 November 2012 - VENDÉE GLOBE GETS UNDERWAY WITH THREE GREEN MARINE ENTRIES
The twenty strong fleet of the Vendée Globe 2012-13 single-handed round the world race got underway on November 10, with three of the IMOCA 60s taking part products from Green Marine. Over the coming weeks we will be rooting for Gamesa (Mike Golding), Macif (François Gabart) and Banque Populaire (Armel Le Cléac'h), all of whom are strong contenders for a podium finish.
Gamesa underwent an extensive refit at Hythe in 2011 to give her the lightweight, solo configuration needed to win the race, and in just three months she received a radical new coachroof plus a new cockpit, deck layout, transom, mainsheet traveller bulkhead and chainplates. Green Marine built the moulds and hulls for Macif and Banc Populaire (formerly Foncia) in 2010 as part of a joint project with CDK in Port la Foret. They were designed by VPLP/Verdier.
