4 February 2013 - GREEN MARINE BOATS TAKE FIRST AND SECOND PLACE IN VENDÉE GLOBE

Green Marine has been celebrating this week the success of MACIF and Banque Populaire at taking first and second place in the 2012-13 Vendée Globe.

Green Marine was part of the team formed in 2010 by CDK Technologies of France to build the two sistership IMOCA 60s designed by VPLP and Guillaume Verdier. Its role was the building of the moulds and carbon fibre hulls for each boat, before shipping them to CDK’s Brittany facility for completion.

“We were very proud to be appointed by Michel Desjoyeaux and the late Hubert Desjoyeaux of CDK Technologies to take on this role,” said Geoff Stock of Green Marine. “It was a pleasure to work with them and their operations manager Michel Ollivier and the success of the collaboration can be seen in the stunning success of the boats in the latest Vendée Globe. We’re delighted that our hulls saw François Gabart and Armel Le Cléac'h safely through some of the most challenging waters on the globe and our congratulations go to them on their results at the end of the race.”

Green Marine also carried out a major refit in 2011 on the current Vendée Globe competitor Gamesa, helmed by the UK’s Mike Golding. That project involved the design, build and installation of a radical new coachroof, cockpit, deck layout, transom, mainsheet traveller bulkhead and chain plates.
